Ten Chileans reach summit of the world’s tallest mountain after 57-day journey.

A small group of Chileans were able to let out a well-deserved sigh of relief this Friday morning as they set foot on the summit of Mount Everest after days of putting their bodies on the line.

The expedition of ten Chileans and ten local guides, headed by 52-year-old mountaineer and professor Rodrigo Jordan, became the fifth-ever Chilean team to conquer the 29,000-foot behemoth.

Every Southern Hemisphere winter, vast low pressure systems line up in the south Pacific, funneling mountains of water toward the Chilean coast. There, surfers from across the globe come to harness this oceanic energy, resulting in epic rides, savage beatings, and an incredible sporting spectacle.

Historic moment comes at traditional country sporting event in Rancagua.

The final weekend of March saw riders and rodeo fans from all over Chile travel to  the 64th Campeonato Nacional de Rodeo (National Rodeo Championship) held annually in the city of Rancagua, an hour south of Santiago.

The event drew 50,000 people with Sunday pulling the biggest crowds to the country’s largest 12,000-seat medialuna stadium for the championship final.

Thousands to flock to Rancagua to watch country’s national sport in annual championship.

Rancagua will host Chile’s 64th rodeo championship, El Campeonato Nacional de Rodeo, at its Medialuna Stadium on Thursday.

Visitors to the event can expect a wide range of activities, food stalls, music, art exhibitions, and demonstrations in addition to the main event: the rodeo.

Annual desert race will finish in front of Santiago's La Moneda Palace.

Next year’s annual Dakar Rally desert motorbike race will finish in Chile’s capital, notably in front of the presidential palace, the director confirmed on Wednesday.

South America has played host to four editions of the prestigious race for cars and motorcycles, after it was relocated from northwest Africa for fear of a terrorist threat.

U.S. rookie hangs on to capture his first professional win in Chile’s PGA tour debut.

Paul Haley II, a graduate of Georgia Tech, won the Chile Classic on Sunday in what was only his third career tour start, finishing with a 1-under 71 for a three-stroke victory.

The "Chile Classic" debuts March 5 and will be the first official PGA event in Chile.

Over 140 professional golfers will take to the fairways of the Prince of Wales Country Club in Santiago between March 5 and 11, with eyes on a purse of $600,000 in the country's first ever PGA Tour event.

Valparaíso Cerro Abajo claims casualties and draws huge crowds for downhill bike race.

It was one of the last runs of a physically exhausting Sunday for riders of the annual Valparaíso Cerro Abajo downhill mountain bike race. Chilean Jaime Rojas dropped in at the top of Cerro Cárcel with hopes of posting a winning time.

Narrow, rickety stairs and stomach-churning jumps await the riders at every turn. An initial decline sits so steep that even cars risk burning their brakes with each descent. One gap propels cyclists over a 15-foot ledge and leaves no room for error.
