Chile’s National Forestry Corporation (CONAF) last week
asked a court to halt mining company Quiborax’s operations in northern
Chile’s Sarire salt flat, a protected area considered a natural
monument. CONAF - the government agency that administers the country’s
national parks - claims the company is breaking the law by working too
