Military spending increases with rising copper prices

Chile is the second largest weapons importer in the Americas and the 11th largest in the world, a recent study has shown.

Chile’s defense budget nearly doubled between 1997 and 2007, the study carried out by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) said.
