The Santiago Times profiles the team running the country, come March 11
(Editor’s Note: President-elect Sebastian Piñera announced his new 22-minister cabinet on Tuesday. The appointments are striking in that the majority are politically independent and have very strong professional (rather than political) credentials. The six women and 16 men forming Piñera’s cabinet have the greatest number of foreign graduate degrees to ever to grace a Chilean cabinet – most of them earned in the United States.
Below, the Santiago Times gives a brief bio of each minister. These men and women will take office March 11 and will be making the news in Chile for the next four years, so we felt it appropriate to give our readers a bit more information about each of them.)
