Chile’s 6,400km coastline is home to several beautiful, protected diving destinations

Though it has been mostly Chileans exploring their own country’s coastline in recent years, foreign divers are starting to discover the unique underwater experiences Chile has to offer.

Experts say there is an abundance of sea life near the coast due to the almost total absence of divers. This absence of human intervention, coupled with excellent visibility, makes for ideal conditions for marine photography. Ocean life includes sea lions, seals, small sharks, rays, sea stars, crab, local fish species, sea slugs, soft coral, flower coral and even dolphins and penguins.
