Growth is fast, but consumers still complain of poor, expensive service

Statistics released this week by the Chilean government’s telecommunications ministry (SUBTEL) reveal that the number of Internet subscriptions in Chile doubled during the four-year Bachelet administration.

Over 2 million Chilean homes are now connected to the Internet, representing 40 percent of all Chilean households. This figure marks a dramatic increase on the 800,000 homes connected when President Bachelet’s term started in 2006.
