| Chile’s Bachelet Gives Green Light To Reproductive Health Legislation |

President Michelle Bachelet on Monday signed a law to allow ‘morning-after pill’ emergency contraception to be distributed freely in Chile. “This is a great victory for Chilean women and also for our democracy,” said Bachelet. Although emergency contraception is already legally sold in Chile, the new law will allow it’s free distribution in public hospitals. The free distribution issue has been hotly contested by conservatives in both houses of the Congress.
