Drowned while leading other tourists on a rafting expedition in Patagonia An Italian man living in Chile without a work visa was drowned while working as a tour guide in southern Chile. Stefano Gioia, 32, had been in the country just over a month and was working with a rafting company on the Futaleufu River, around 300 km southeast of Puerto Montt. The river is one of the most well-known destinations for rafting around the world. In an interview with the Santiago Times, the Italian Consul, Pasquale Centracchio, confirmed that Gioia was on an expedition when his boat overturned and the man drowned.
