Heavy metal band Metallica is returning to Chile for the third time to shake the walls, and even the very foundation, of Santiago’s Club Hípico.

The group is confirmed to play on January 26, and the tickets for the gig went on sale on Monday at midnight. Over 10,000 tickets were sold by noon the next day through Ticketmaster, call centers and ticket outlets such as Falabella and Cine Hoyts.

This year the band have been touring the USA on their World Magnetic Tour, promoting their new 2008 album “Death Magnetic.” The band will continue in 2010 with the South American leg of the tour. Tickets cost from CHP$29,000 (US$60) to CHP$80,000 (US$160).

She now spends her time writing for the Santiago Times and Revolver, teaching at a school in La Pintana and, like the rest of the crew, eating lots and lots of palta.
