Obama’s Afghanistan Decision
Written by Bill Moyers
Thursday, 26 November 2009 22:03

(Ed. Note:  When U.S. President Barack Obama announces next week his decision to increase U.S. military operations in Afghanistan, he will lose my vote and the vote of millions of other U.S. citizens who 40 years ago opposed U.S. military intervention in Vietnam.

(This publisher was among the first several thousand Obama supporters to donate money to his presidential campaign over the Internet, and so the separation is sad, disappointing and not easy. But it is driven by the kind of information presented below by U.S. journalist Bill Moyers – a window, if you will, into the decision-making process of former U.S. President Lyndon Johnson as he wrestled with the Vietnam issue. And made the wrong decision.

(The Moyers piece is a long read, but certainly worth the reader’s time considering all the ramifications that are implied by a long-term U.S. military commitment to Afghanistan
.)
