Government expresses negativity, students show mixed opinions in response to Eloisa González's remarks.

Faced with the thus-far disappointing results of this year’s student protests, Eloisa González, president of Coordinating Assembly of High School Students (ACES), called for a boycott Thursday of municipal elections in October.

boycott_protest "In response to what the political class has said to our demands, we call to students and workers to boycott the municipal elections on Oct. 28," González announced to the press after exiting the Education Ministry.

As president of ACES, González has been at the helm of this year’s high school student protests, which have attempted to pressure the government to improve the quality and equality of the country’s education system. The government has yet to flinch, however, and plans are currently in the works to put an end to the school occupations some students have brought about.
