Gay rights activist group reveals military document that associates homosexuals with mental illness and sexual perversion.
Another controversial day for the Chilean armed forces unraveled Wednesday, as Chile’s Movement for Homosexual Integration and Liberation (Movilh) brought to light a military document that referred to homosexuals as “sexually perverse.”
The document, Rules for Preventative Medicine in the Armed Forces DNL 928, establishes psychiatric grounds upon which Chilean citizens can be prevented from joining the military.
"Psychotic reactions, multiple personalities, mental weakness, epilepsy in any form or sexual perversions" are some of the criteria that the military can use to deny a citizen's entrance into the armed forces.
